There are several benefits that can help if you have health needs, a disability, or if you’re caring for someone who depends on you. This section explains what support is available, who can get it, and how to make a claim. You’ll also find guidance on what each benefit covers, so you can understand which ones may be right for you’re situation.
Sickness and Injury Benefits
People living in Guernsey, Alderney, Herm and Jethou who are registered with Social Security may be able to claim benefit during times of sickness and injury.
Health Benefit
Health Benefit is a form of support offered by the States of Guernsey through Social Security. This grant helps towards the cost of medical appointments with an approved doctor or nurse.
Long-term care benefit
If you need to move into a private residential or nursing care home, you may be able eligible for Long-Term Care Benefit. This benefit is paid each week and helps with the cost of staying in a private care home.
Carer’s Allowance and Severe Disability Benefit
If you have a medical condition or disability that means you need care to continue living at home, you may be able to claim Severe Disability Benefit. If you’re providing regular care for someone with these needs, you may also be able to claim Carer’s Allowance.
